Terms of Service

Last updated: June 2026.

⚠️ This is a strong starting template, not legal advice. Before you take real payments, have a lawyer (or a service like Termly/Rocket Lawyer) review and finalize this for your situation and state.

1. Eligibility

Accounts are restricted to individuals with a valid @ucdavis.edu email address who are current students, staff, or affiliates of the University of California, Davis. You must be at least 18, or have a parent/guardian's consent.

2. What AggieBikeGuard is — and isn't

AggieBikeGuard is a community-run bicycle registry and information-sharing tool. It is not law enforcement, a security service, an escrow service, or an insurer. Listing a bike on the registry does not guarantee its recovery, and we make no representation that any bike will be found.

3. Paid plans are software, not insurance

Premium and Premium+ subscriptions provide software features (e.g., unlimited registrations, alerts, partner perks). They are not insurance and do not provide reimbursement for stolen or damaged property unless a separate policy is offered through a licensed insurance provider and you accept that provider's terms. Do not interpret any feature name as a promise of payment.

4. Marketplace

Listings are posted by users. AggieBikeGuard does not own, inspect, or guarantee any item. Serial checks against our stolen registry are a convenience, not a warranty of clean title. Transact at your own risk, verify serial numbers, and meet in public, well-lit locations.

5. Payments & cancellation

Subscriptions and one-time purchases (e.g., listing boosts, metal tags) are processed by Stripe. By subscribing you authorize recurring charges until you cancel. You can cancel anytime; access continues until the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled case-by-case.

6. Acceptable use

Do not submit false stolen reports, list items you do not own, harass other users, or attempt to access data that isn't yours. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AggieBikeGuard and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of property, arising from use of the service.

8. No university affiliation

AggieBikeGuard is an independent project and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by The Regents of the University of California, UC Davis, or its police department.
